He seems to have made a good recovery, and is not back and singing regularly. CHRIS' VOICE RETURNING! 22nd October 1999 Good news about Chris Barron's voice. He is now able to talk again and is hoping to soon gt the all clear to be able to sing again too. If all go well, the Spin Doctors hope to be able to tour to support the new album 'Here Comes The Bride'. CHRIS BARRON LOSES VOICE August 1999 There have been reports and rumours floating around for a while that Chris Barron, lead singer of the Spin Doctors has been suffering from some kind of complaint that is affecting his voice. Finally, the band's record company has released a statement: Universal Records Confirms Medical Condition of the Spin Doctors' Chris Barron NEW YORK, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Records today confirmed that The Spin Doctors' lead singer Chris Barron has been diagnosed with a rare paralysis of his vocal chords. Barron continues to meet with medical specialists, who express concern over the gravity of the situation. Doctors have indicated that he may never regain the full use of his voice. Presently, he cannot speak above a whisper, and as such, all promotional activities for the band have been put on hold. Recently, The Spin Doctors released their first studio album in over three years, "Here Comes The Bride," on the new DAS/Universal label. Universal Records offers its sincerest support and encouragement to Chris during this most difficult time. Universal joins with Chris' bandmates, their families, and of course, their many fans from around the world, in wishing Chris a healthy and speedy recovery. SOURCE Universal Records NEW ALBUM RELEASED 1st June 1999 The Spin Doctors new Album 'Here Comes the Bride' has finally been released in the USA. No information on release in the rest of the world as yet, though. SPIN DOCTORS DON'T CHANGE NAME AFTER ALL 4th April 1999 As is often the case in the world of the Spin Doctors, much of the older news on this page is now completely out of date. The band are no longer changing their name to 'Jason's Wedding', but will remain the Spin Doctors. They are, however still signed to DAS/Universal records, and the album, due for release in June on that label is still to be called 'Here Comes the Bride'. BAND NAME CHANGES? 5th January 1999 The band have now - in the wake of Mark White's departure - changed their name to 'Jason's Wedding'. MARK WHITE LEAVES THE SPIN DOCTORS 3rd December 1998 Mark White, bass player with the Spin Doctors has left the band. In an email, he told me: I left the band because I was tired of not gigging, I was tired of the double standard that Aaron and Chris used to run the band and also because I hate that stupid CD, which Aaron seem to get away with writing all the music himself and even playing bass, guitar and keyboards, when you know we have a great guitar player and keyboard player, the bottom line is this: it was Aaron and Chris that really destroyed this band and I could not stand by and be a part of it anymore. it was all about getting some stupid record deal and never about the music and the band mark THE REAL DEAL?? 25th July 1998 Could the Spin Doctors really have a record deal? In a journal published at http://www.awaremusic.com/horde/html/chris_frame.html Chris Barron writes: "I typed up the rest of the lyrics of the new Spin Doctors album, Dodging Assassins, due out this January on our new label, DAS Universal. " ALBUM TITLE UNVEILED 10th June 1998 In a post to the Spin Doctors mailing list, Chris Barron revealed the title of the forthcoming album from the band. Chris said: "oh,and btw ,m'dears, the title of the new album is not *gone mad* as per the p'house article . the new album is a character sketch of a friend of ours, sort of a characature of his crazy wayz . it will be called*dodging assassins* you heard it here first folks!!!!!" RECORD CONTRACT RUMOURS AGAIN 10th June 1998 A rumour on the Spin Doctors mailing list suggests that Universal Records have been in talks with the band, and may be interested in signing them. Nothing definite as yet, though. GOOD NEWS FOR SPIN DOCTORS FANS? 5th June 1998 While nothing definite has yet been heard, the recent appearence of an article in Penthouse magazine shows that the Spin Doctors publicity machine may be getting up to speed. It would seem strange for such publicity to come about of the band were still unsigned with no immediate hope of releasing a record. Read the Penthouse article here, and check this page for more details in the future. NO DEAL WITH RCA May 1998 Nothing has come of the talks between Spin Doctors and RCA, leavin the band still without a record company to complete their new album. NEW RECORD DEAL ON THE CARDS? March 1998 Rumour has it that the Spin Doctors are on the verge of signing a new record deal, this time with RCA Columbia records. With the new album already in the can, this could see the Spin Doctors back in records shops soon. More news when I get some conformation. NEW RECORD DEAL FALLS THROUGH January 1998 The Spin Doctors are once again unsigned, after their new record deal with Ruffhouse fell through only a couple of months before the release of the new album. I don't have full details or know any of the reasons for the deal collapsing. This news means that the proposed January release of the album will now not be going ahead. NEW SPIN DOCTORS ALBUM COMPLETED August 1997 The Spin Doctors, with their new guitarist Eran Tabib have already completed a brand new album, due for release in January. The band have also signed a new record deal with Ruffhouse, a branch of Columbia Records. More album details when I get them. SPIN DOCTORS WIN MILLER CASE 1st June 1997 The Spin Doctors have won their case against Miller (see below). As far as I know, the value of the settlement has not been released. SPIN DOCTORS FIGHT MILLER 9th May 1997 The Spin Doctors are taking US beer company Miller to court, claiming that Two Princes was used in Miller adverts without permission. Miller are claiming that the music used in the advertisments is a 'common composition' and not Two Princes at all. The band are seeking compensation and an injunction to stop the tune being used. SPIN DOCTORS SIGN UP NEW GUITARIST! 7th May 1997 After several auditions, the Spin Doctors have now found a guitarist they are happy with. The new guitarist is Eran Tabib, 25 years old, and has been living in New York for around three years since moving from Tel Aviv, Israel. ANTHONY KRIZAN LEAVES THE BAND January 1997 Spin Doctors guitarist (Anthony Krizan - he wrote and played on You've Got To Believe In Something) has left the band. Rumours are that the 'Doctors will still be touring in the US in the summer, with Anthony still playing with them if they haven't found a replacement. Auditions have apparently been taking place recently for a new guitarist. SPIN DOCTORS LEAVE EPIC/SONY. Winter 1996 Spin Doctors have now left Sony/Epic records, reportedly because they were less than happy with the promotion that their most recent records had recieved.
